My name is Joke Lybaert, in my thirties, a travel blogger and adventurer. Since childhood, I have always had the urge to explore, push boundaries, and experience the feeling of truly living. For me, traveling is more than relaxation; it is a way to challenge myself, discover new cultures, and experience extraordinary moments. I love both small and large adventures, from a weekend getaway with the children in nature to distant travels to exotic destinations.
My adventures
My first distant adventure took me to the beautiful Peru, where I embarked on a multi-day hike to Machu Picchu. That journey opened my eyes to the beauty and diversity of the world. Shortly after, as a young twenty-something, I spent three months in Bolivia, completely alone, to discover what it was like to travel independently in South America. I have now visited 51 countries, and I continue to make plans for new adventures.
My travel style
The more exotic the destination, the more I plan ahead. I always make a list of ‘must-do’ and ‘can-do’ activities, but I leave room to make decisions on the spot. Often, it is the unexpected moments that yield the most beautiful memories. My motto is: “I only come here once, so I have to make the most of it.”
Why I’ve started blogging
In addition to my full-time job, I am a passionate adventurer and storyteller. Through my blog, I aim to inspire other families and help them plan their dream travels. I share tips, practical advice, and personal experiences, ensuring that traveling with children remains adventurous and feasible.
My Bucket List
On my bucket list:
- Sleeping in a yurt in Central Asia
- Spotting animals on safari in Africa
- See the Northern Lights
- Celebrate Dia de los Muertos in Mexico
- Take a train journey through Switzerland
- Take a cold plunge in Antarctica
- And so much more
